Bellaire's Holiday Season Lands in One Early-December Week. Here's What Comes Before and After It

November 5, 2026

Who puts on Bellaire's holiday season? On paper, the City of Bellaire's calendar looks like the whole thing. In 2026, nearly half of what fills late fall comes from a second host, the Nature Discovery Center at 7112 Newcastle St., a nonprofit that runs its own programs, its own market and its own gala.

The two calendars don't run side by side all season. They pile into the same four days, Wednesday, Dec. 2 through Saturday, Dec. 5, when the city's two biggest family events and the nature center's two biggest public moments arrive back to back. Everything else in November and December sits on either side of that week.

Four days, two hosts

Here is the stretch, day by day, as it stands on Nov. 12.

Date Event Host Where and when
Wed., Dec. 2 Birding After Breakfast, final session of the fall season Nature Discovery Center 7112 Newcastle St., 8:30 to 10 a.m.
Wed., Dec. 2 Selfies with Santa City of Bellaire Civic Center, time slots from 4:30 p.m. per KidsOutAndAbout
Thu., Dec. 3 Holiday in the Park City of Bellaire Bellaire Town Square, 6 to 8:30 p.m., free, per Houston.com
Sat., Dec. 5 Holiday Market Nature Discovery Center 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., free admission

Wednesday, Dec. 2 holds two events at opposite ends of the day. The Nature Discovery Center's Birding After Breakfast has met on Wednesday mornings since Sept. 30 to follow fall migration, and Dec. 2 is the last one of the season. Selfies with Santa is on the city calendar that same day. A KidsOutAndAbout listing puts it at the Civic Center, with cookie decorating, photos with Santa and time slots starting at 4:30 p.m. The listing names the City of Bellaire as organizer.

Holiday in the Park follows on Thursday, Dec. 3. Houston.com's Bellaire guide, published Oct. 26, 2026, lists it at Bellaire Town Square from 6 to 8:30 p.m. with free admission. For the full program, the city's Holiday in the Park page and its events calendar are the places to check as the date gets closer.

Two days later, the season moves back to Newcastle Street.

The nature center's half of the season

The Nature Discovery Center Holiday Market runs Saturday, Dec. 5, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is free, and it goes on rain or shine. The center describes hot chocolate with mix-ins, popcorn, a holiday photo spot and stalls from local vendors. Kids can make a winter nature craft, meet animals up close or join the Gingerbread Habitats event, which requires advance registration.

The market's giving tree shows who the center is raising money for. Visitors are asked to bring gifts for its animal ambassadors: hay for Clover, crickets for Blaze, bananas for Buttercup. The 2026 vendor list hasn't been posted yet. The center says it will name vendors "in the coming weeks," and vendor and food truck inquiries go to its development office.

That market is the public end of a fundraising calendar that starts earlier in November. The center's 31st annual Twilight Gala is Friday, Nov. 20, from 6 to 10 p.m., with dinner, dancing and the band Password. It's held at the Junior League of Houston, outside Bellaire. The center says the evening supports its nature education and environmental stewardship work. Its 2026 ticket form lists individual tickets at $250, pairs at $525 and tables from $2,500.

That education work fills the center's calendar in the weeks around the gala. The center's events listing for mid-November includes:

  • Nov. 12 and 13: Discovery Room hours
  • Sat., Nov. 14: Meet the Animals, 2 to 3 p.m.
  • Mon., Nov. 16: Pollywogs, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.
  • Wed., Nov. 18: Nature Story Time, 4 p.m.
  • Wednesdays through Dec. 2: Birding After Breakfast, 8:30 to 10 a.m.

All of them are at 7112 Newcastle St. Put together, the gala, the weekday programs and the Dec. 5 market make up a full season of their own, running alongside the city's.

The city's side, from Paseo Park to the Great Lawn

The City of Bellaire's season opens two days after this post goes up, a few blocks off Bellaire Boulevard. The juried Bellaire Fall Arts & Crafts Festival is Saturday, Nov. 14, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Paseo Park, 5000 Bellaire Blvd. It runs under the Bellaire Culture & Arts Board, and vendors had to apply and be accepted to get a booth.

Nov. 14 is also the first day the two hosts overlap. The festival runs all day at Paseo Park, and the nature center's Meet the Animals hour falls in the middle of the afternoon, 2 to 3 p.m. A family with a free Saturday can make both. It's a small preview of how December will go.

City offices are closed for Thanksgiving on Thursday and Friday, Nov. 26 and 27. After that, the city's events move to Town Square and the Civic Center for the Dec. 2 and Dec. 3 dates above.

The city closes out the season on the Great Lawn. A free Party at the Pavilion featuring Thunderpants runs Friday, Dec. 11, from 7 to 9 p.m. on the Great Lawn at Bellaire Town Square, 7008 S Rice Ave. It's the last city-listed event of the stretch, and it lands a week after the Dec. 2 to 5 cluster.

The deadline that runs the whole season

Dec. 11 is also the last day of a city program that started before any of the events above. The City of Bellaire's free pumpkin compost drop-off at 4401 Edith St. runs from Nov. 2 through Dec. 11. The city asks that pumpkins be bare and placed in the collection container, and that they not be left at the curb.

So the season starts and ends with the same date. Whatever Halloween pumpkins are still on porches can go to Edith Street any day from now until the Thunderpants concert night.
